Breakfast Burrito Recipe with a Kick of Sweet Heat
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and nothing beats a breakfast burrito packed with flavor and nutrients to fuel your morning. Today, I’m excited to share one of my all-time favorite breakfast burrito recipes that blends savory, smoky, and sweet flavors for a delicious and satisfying meal.
This burrito features Trader Joe's handmade flour tortillas, fluffy eggs, shredded Gruyère & Swiss cheese crunchy veggies, savory Pederson's Organic No Sugar Added Smoked Sausage, and a sweet-spicy kick from Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion Hot Sauce. It’s simple, packed with protein, and a flavor bomb in every bite!
Ingredients:
- 2 Trader Joe’s Handmade Flour Tortillas
- 3 whole eggs
- 1 oz shredded Gruyère & Swiss cheese
- ¼ cup chopped red onion
- ¼ cup chopped bell pepper (use any color you like!)
- 1 serving Pederson’s Organic No Sugar Added Smoked Sausage (as seen in the image above)
- 1-2 tbsp Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion Hot Sauce (as seen in the image above)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the veggies and sausage:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped red onion and bell pepper and sauté for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Slice the Pederson’s Organic Smoked Sausage and add it to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the sausage is warmed through and lightly browned.
2. Cook the eggs:
- While the sausage and veggies are cooking, crack the eggs into a bowl, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk.
- In a separate pan, scramble the eggs until fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.
3. Assemble the burrito:
- Warm the Trader Joe’s flour tortillas in the microwave or on the stovetop.
- Place a generous spoonful of the scrambled eggs in the center of each tortilla.
- Add the sautéed veggies and sausage mixture on top.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyère & Swiss cheese over the filling.
- Drizzle with the sweet and spicy Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion Hot Sauce to add a tangy, fruity kick.
4. Wrap it up:
- Fold in the sides of the tortillas, then roll them up tightly into burritos. You can toast them in the skillet for a crispy finish if you like!
Optional: Burrito Enhancements
- Add a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt for extra creaminess.
- Include some fresh cilantro for a burst of freshness.
- For a heartier burrito, add a few slices of avocado or a handful of spinach.
